BIOGRAPHY:
St. Adelheid, born in Burgundy (France), came from the influential Guelph dynasty. Despite being imprisoned by the Italian king Berengar II, she was crowned empress through her later marriage to Otto I, who later became Holy Roman Emperor. Over the course of her life, she showed great commitment to the religious community by founding monasteries and arranging for the construction of several churches. These cultural contributions ultimately led to her canonization.

St. Adelheid is the patron saint of brides, victims of abuse, empresses, exiles, parenthood, princesses, prisoners and widows.
