BIOGRAPHY:
St. Agnes of Rome took a vow of perpetual virginity at a young age. Like St. Afra, she was also arrested by Diocletian and taken to a brothel, but legend has it that her hair grew miraculously and covered her entire body. The attempt to burn her also failed, as the fire did not catch on her skin. In the end, she was beheaded at the age of just 13. Her martyrdom, which was brought about by her refusal to obey, contributed significantly to her veneration.
