BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Adalbert of Prague, also known as Wojciech, was born in 956 in Bohemia. He became the Bishop of Prague and was a significant missionary among the pagan peoples of Eastern Europe. Due to opposition in his homeland, he left Prague and became a Benedictine monk in Rome. At the pope's request, he returned to missionary work, traveling to Poland and the Baltic region. He attempted to convert the Prussians to Christianity but was killed by pagan warriors. Polish King Boleslaw I gave him an honorable burial, and he was soon canonized.
