BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Pirmin was an itinerant missionary, abbot, and founder of monasteries in the 8th century. He is regarded as one of the key evangelists of the Alemannic region. St. Pirmin established numerous monasteries, including the renowned Reichenau Monastery on Lake Constance. Through his missionary work, he played a crucial role in the Christianization of southwestern Germany and Alsace. Additionally, he wrote the Scarapsus, an important treatise on Christian faith and ecclesiastical rules. Due to his contributions, Saint Pirmin is highly revered.
PATRONAGE:
St. Pirmin is the patron saint against snake infestations, vermin, and plagues, as well as the patron of the Palatinate and the Diocese of Speyer.
