BIOGRAPHY:
St. Castor of Karden was a Christian hermit and priest who lived in the 4th century in the region around Karden on the Moselle River. He is said to have originated from Aquitaine and was ordained a priest by St. Maximin of Trier. In Karden, he founded a monastic community and devoted himself to prayer and pastoral care. His life was marked by ascetic rigor and deep piety. After his death, he was buried in Karden, where the collegiate church of St. Castor was later built. His veneration spread mainly in the Rhineland.
