BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Teresa, born in Skopje (Macedonia), is also known as the "Saint of Calcutta". She joined the Congregation of the Loreto Sisters in 1928, but later left to devote herself to the poor in the slums of Calcutta. In 1950, she founded the order of the "Missionaries of Charity", which rapidly became a global organization. Her views against abortion and divorce as well as her conservative stance on the role of women earned her plenty of criticism. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
