BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Wendelin was a hermit and abbot, venerated as the patron saint of shepherds and farmers. According to tradition, he was a Scottish prince who renounced his worldly life to devote himself to God in solitude. He settled in what is now the Saarland region and lived as a shepherd before joining monastic life. Later, he became the abbot of a monastery near Tholey. After his death, his grave became an important pilgrimage site.
