BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Bernard of Aosta, also known as St. Bernard of Menthon, was born around 923 in Aosta, Italy. Of noble descent, he dedicated his life to the protection of travelers and pilgrims in the Alps. Bernard became the Archdeacon of Aosta and founded two hospices at the highest Alpine passes, the Great and Little St. Bernard, providing shelter and assistance to travelers on their perilous journeys. For his tireless charity and devotion, he was canonized and is remembered as a model of compassion and courage.
