BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Sebald was a hermit and missionary in Franconia, whose life is shrouded in legend. He is said to have been of noble Danish or French descent and traveled to Franconia as a pilgrim to spread the Gospel. He settled in Nuremberg and lived as a hermit near the city. His preaching and ascetic lifestyle deeply impressed the people. After his death, he was venerated as a saint, and his relics were placed in St. Sebald's Church in Nuremberg.
