BIOGRAPHY:
St. Bertin was born around the year 615 in France and entered a monastery at an early age. As a Benedictine monk, he became known for his piety and scholarship. He founded the Abbey of Saint-Bertin in Saint-Omer, which quickly became a center of faith and learning. Through his tireless missionary work among the Frisians and his wise monastic reforms, he gained great esteem. St. Bertin died around the year 709 and was soon venerated as a saint.
