BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Caius, also known as Gaius or Cajus, was the Bishop of Rome and served as Pope from 283 to 296 AD. He was likely from Dalmatia (modern-day Croatia) and is said to have been related to Emperor Diocletian. During his pontificate, Christians experienced a brief period of peace before the great persecutions began. According to tradition, St. Caius hid in the Roman catacombs, where he eventually died a natural death. His tomb is located in the Catacombs of St. Callixtus, and his veneration as a saint began early.
