BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Clement of Ohrid was born around the year 840 and was a significant scholar, writer, and missionary in medieval Bulgaria. As one of the most prominent disciples of Saints Cyril and Methodius, he significantly contributed to the spread of Christianity among the Slavic peoples. After being expelled from Moravia, he found refuge in the First Bulgarian Empire, where he founded the Ohrid Literary School and taught numerous students in the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts. He is considered the first bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and authored numerous sermons, hymns, and other religious texts. Saint Clement died on July 27, 916, in Ohrid, where he was buried in the Monastery of Saint Pantaleon, which he had established.
