BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Jean-Marie Baptiste Vianney, known as the Curé of Ars, was born in France in 1786. From an early age, he felt a calling to the priesthood but faced many obstacles due to the French Revolution and his academic struggles. Despite these difficulties, he was ordained a priest in 1815 and assigned to the small parish of Ars in 1818. There, he dedicated himself to pastoral care and the sacrament of confession, often spending up to 16 hours a day in the confessional. His deep sermons and ascetic lifestyle attracted thousands of believers from all over France. Saint Jean-Marie Baptiste Vianney was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and is venerated as the patron saint of parish priests.
