When did Saint Dorothy live: 3rd century AD
BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Dorothy, born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey), had a very strong faith and rejected the pagan cults of the gods. The Roman prefect Sapricius was so impressed by her beauty that he offered her marriage if she gave up her faith. However, she refused and was subsequently beheaded. One remarkable event was the story of Theophilus, an advocate. While Dorothy was being led to the place of execution, he mocked her and asked her to send him fruit from the Garden of Eden. After her death, an angel is said to have brought him a basket full of apples and roses, whereupon he converted.
