BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Francis de Sales was born in 1567 in Savoy and became a renowned theologian, bishop, and writer. In 1602, he was appointed Bishop of Geneva but had to exercise his ministry from Annecy due to Calvinist rule. He was an exceptional preacher and pastor, known for his gentleness and patience. His masterpiece, Introduction to the Devout Life, remains a classic of spiritual literature. Together with Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, he founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. He was canonized in 1665 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1877.
