When did Saint Fulgentius live: 5th - 6th century AD
BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Fulgentius of Ruspe was born around 462 in North Africa. Initially a government official, he chose the monastic life, inspired by the teachings of Saint Augustine. In 508, he was consecrated bishop of Ruspe (modern-day Tunisia). Because of his loyalty to orthodox doctrine, he was persecuted by the Vandal Arians and exiled multiple times. During his exile, he wrote numerous theological works. After his return, he worked for the unity of the Church and led an ascetic life. He died around 533 and is venerated as a great Church scholar.
