BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Hartwig of Salzburg was an important church prince of the 10th century. Born around 940, he came from the influential Bavarian family of the Luitpoldings. In 991, he was appointed Archbishop of Salzburg and worked intensively on church reforms. He was particularly committed to promoting monastic life and strengthening church discipline. During his tenure, numerous churches and monasteries were supported and expanded. He passed away on December 5, 1023, and was venerated as a saint, with his official feast day set on June 14.
