When did Saint Juliane live: 1192 - 1258

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Juliane, born in Liège (Belgium), came to the Mont Cornillon hospital for lepers as an orphan. In 1222, she was appointed prioress of the female reil of the monastery. Several visions shaped her youth. Notorious is the one of a shining moon with a dark stripe. This was to indicate that a feast for the veneration of the sacrament of the altar was missing. Pope Urban IV then instituted the feast of Corpus Christi for the whole church. Juliana was repeatedly subjected to hostility, which is why she was expelled from the convent twice. She spent her last years as a hermit in Fosses (France).

PATRONAGE:
St. Juliane is the patron saint of Eucharistic adoration and the sick, especially lepers.

SYMBOLISM:
The symbols of San Juliane are a book as a sign of wisdom, a crown to emphasize her royal origin and a chain held by a demon to represent victory over evil.
