BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Quirinus was a Roman tribune who lived in the 3rd century. According to legend, he was converted to Christianity by the martyr Saint Balbina. Because of his faith, he suffered martyrdom during the Christian persecution under Emperor Hadrian. His tomb is believed to have been in Rome, and his veneration spread widely throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. Some of his relics are preserved in Neuss, where he is honored as the city's patron saint.
