BIOGRAPHY:
St. Valentine was a Christian bishop and martyr who lived in the 3rd century in Rome or Terni. According to tradition, he secretly married Christian couples despite an imperial ban, which led to his arrest. It is said that he healed the blind daughter of a jailer and left her a note signed "Your Valentine." On February 14, he was executed by order of Emperor Claudius II. Over time, his feast day became associated with love and romance.
