When did Saint Adelgund live: 7th century AD
BIOGRAPHY:
St. Adelgund came directly from the Merovingian royal family, which is why they wanted to marry her to the son of the English king. However, her wish was to join a monastery and so, with the help of an angel, she fled across the River Sambre (France) to an uninhabited region. After some time, her parents gave in to her wish and she became abbess. During her consecration, a dove placed a veil on her head. She mainly cared for the sick and performed several miracles. According to legend, an already extinguished candle ignited when she picked it up.
St. Adelgund succumbed to cancer on January 30, 684.

St. Adelgund is the patron saint against eye, breast and childhood diseases, cancer, headaches, ulcers, inflammation, fever and sudden death.
