BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Bernadette Soubirous, born in Lourdes (France), was the eldest daughter and lived under difficult conditions such as poverty and illness. She developed a deep religiousness at an early age. This led to an experience that changed her life forever. At the age of 14, the Virgin Mary appeared to her by the river Gave de Pau. She revealed herself to her eighteen more times in the Grotte Massabielle. These events caused a great stir, which is why many skeptics, but also many believers, commented on them. The cave has since become a well-known place of pilgrimage with millions of visitors every year.
