Biography of St. Adolf:
St. Adolf of Osnabrück, son of the counts of Westphalia, was born around 1185. He studied in the Cistercian monastery of Altenkamp and, attracted by the monastic life, he became a monk. He was consecrated capitular in Cologne and in 1216 he was named bishop of Osnabrück. During his papacy St. Adolf remained humble and modest, he helped the poor and the sick. The legend tells that bishop Adolf frequently went to see a leper and the priests who accompanied him were afraid to fall ill. So they decided, unbeknown to the bishop, to conceal the leper and they brought him to another place. But when St. Adolf visited the sick, he found him in the usual place as if he never moved away from his bed. St. Adolf died on the 30th of June 1224.
