Saint Amator was the Bishop of Auxerre in the 4th century. He came from a Christian family and received an excellent religious education. Before becoming bishop, he served as a priest. During his episcopate, he worked tirelessly to convert the local population and combat pagan practices. His sermons and exemplary Christian life led many to the faith. According to legend, his prayers protected the city from enemies and natural disasters. After his death, he was venerated as a saint, and his relics were placed in the cathedral of Auxerre.
