BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Anthony of Padua was born in 1195 in Lisbon, Portugal, as Fernando Martins de Bulhões. He initially joined the Augustinian Order but later became a Franciscan to serve as a missionary in Morocco. However, due to illness, he had to return to Europe. In Italy, he became one of the greatest preachers of his time, known for his eloquence and deep theological knowledge. He worked primarily in Padua, where he gained a large following. St. Anthony passed away in 1231 and was canonized just a year later.
