BIOGRAPHY:
St. Dionysius was the first bishop of Paris and one of the most important missionaries of the 3rd century in Gaul. He was sent along with his companions Rusticus and Eleutherius to spread Christianity in the Roman province. Because of his missionary work, he was arrested under Emperor Valerian around AD 258 and beheaded. According to legend, after his decapitation, he picked up his own head and walked several kilometers to his burial site.
