BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Fabian was elected pope around the year 236, despite being a simple layman. His election was considered a divine event when a dove landed on his head, which was interpreted by those present as a sign of the Holy Spirit. During his pontificate, he reorganized the church administration and promoted the veneration of martyrs. He was known for his courage and steadfast faith during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Decius. In 250, he suffered martyrdom and was buried in the catacombs of Rome.
