BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Helena, born in Bithynia (modern-day Turkey), came from humble beginnings. She had a son with the Roman officer Constantius Chlorus, who later became known as Constantine the Great. Tragically, he had his son Crispus executed after his wife accused him of sexual misconduct. Later, his wife was also executed for adultery. Helena undertook a very special pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where she discovered the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. The discovery led to the construction of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
