Saint Laura, born in Córdoba (Spain), met her death during the Moorish rule in al-Andalus. After her husband died, she devoted herself to a spiritual lifestyle. According to reports, she was put to death in a cauldron of molten lead. Her martyrdom makes her a symbolic figure of Christian resistance in times of great oppression.
