BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Sabine, born into a noble Roman family, decided to devote herself to Christianity despite her pagan surroundings. This was particularly dangerous due to the persecution of Christians under Emperor Hadrian. She also made her home a place of refuge for persecuted Christians and blatantly refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods. As a result, her execution was proclaimed and her fate sealed with martyrdom.

St. Sabine is the patron saint of the city of Rome and of widows.
