BIOGRAPHY:
Only little reliable information is known about Saint Sophie. It is assumed that she was a widow who brought up her three daughters Pistis, Elpis and Agape (faith, hope and love) in Christian virtue. According to legend, Sophia and her daughters were arrested in Rome during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Hadrian. Her daughters suffered cruel martyrdoms and died as martyrs, while Sophia, who had to witness the death of her children, was the last to die due to pain and grief.

St. Sophie is the patron saint of mothers and widows.
