BIOGRAPHY:
St. Gottfried was born around 1065 in Soissons, France. He entered the monastery of Mont-Saint-Quentin at an early age and became a monk. Later, he was appointed abbot of Nogent-sous-Coucy, where he introduced strict monastic discipline. Due to his virtue and piety, he was elected Bishop of Amiens in 1115. During his tenure, he advocated for church reform and fought against abuses such as simony and clerical extravagance. He was a caring shepherd for the poor and sick and sought fair governance. Due to opposition to his reforms, he withdrew to a monastery, where he died in 1115.
