When did Saint Irmgard live: 9th century AD

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Irmgard was born in Tours (France) and descended from the noble Etichon family. Her marriage to Emperor Lothar I resulted in nine children and her coronation as Empress of the Holy Roman Empire. Together with her daughter Rotrud, she founded the women's abbey of Erstein in Alsace, which flourished thanks to her. This was mainly due to her efforts to obtain important relics from Rome. Many of the remaining children played significant political roles in Europe.

St. Irmgard is the patron saint of monasteries and monastery foundations.
