When did Saint Ehrentraud live: 7th century AD

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Ehrentraud, born in Worms (Germany), came to Salzburg (Austria) with her uncle Rupert. Here he founded a monastery and appointed Ehrentraud as its first abbess. All the sisters had a high level of education and came from the nobility. Ehrentraud was highly respected, as evidenced by the document drawn up shortly after her death in 788. In addition, Caesarius, a chaplain of the monastery, wrote a work in the 14th century which reports on Ehrentraud's life. In it, he describes her as follows: "Ardent was the power of her speech to soften the hard hearts of the obstinate and to flavor them with the salt of wisdom and the honey of love."

PATRONAGE:
St. Ehrentraud is the patron saint of Salzburg and is also venerated in Freiburg-Munzingen (Germany).
