BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Januarius of Naples was the Bishop of Benevento and suffered martyrdom around AD 305 during the Christian persecutions under Emperor Diocletian. According to tradition, he was imprisoned with several companions and eventually beheaded. After his death, his blood was collected in two ampoules, which are now kept in the Cathedral of Naples. This blood miraculously liquefies several times a year, especially on September 19, his feast day. The phenomenon, known as the "Blood Miracle of St. Januarius," is considered a sign of divine protection over Naples and is highly venerated by the faithful.
