BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Romedius was a noble hermit from the Tyrolean region. He came from a wealthy family but renounced his possessions to lead an ascetic life. Together with his companions, he retreated to a cave near Thaur in Tyrol. Later, he settled in what is now San Romedio in Trentino, where he lived as a hermit. Many legends surround him, the most famous of which tells of a tamed bear that accompanied him on his travels. After his death, his tomb quickly became a pilgrimage site.
