Biography of St. Albin:
St. Albin of Vercelli was bishop of Vercelli in Italy from 415 a.D. to 451 a.D.. St. Albin reconstructed the cathedral of Vercelli which had been destroyed by the Ostrogoths and Visigoths. They devastated Vercelli at the beginning of the fifth century. According to the legend the bishop of Auxerre Germanus, who was on the way to a council in Ravenna, passed in Vercelli and promised that on the way back would consecrate the cathedral. But Saint Germanus died in Ravenna and so the coffin of the bishop was brought back to France. On the way home the body of the bishop of Auxerre was carried into the cathedral of Vercelli and as the bier entered the church all the candles miraculously inflamed. St. Albin died around 451 a.D..
