BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, attained saint status as early as the Middle Ages, but is not mentioned in any of the canonical gospels. After the death of her first husband Joachim from the family of King David, two further marriages followed, each of which also produced a daughter named Mary. Similar to the birth of Jesus, an angel also appeared to Anna, announcing the offspring chosen by God.

St. Mother Anne is the patron saint of Florence, Innsbruck, Naples and Brittany; the diocese of Opole, the diocese of Gliwice; mothers and marriage, housewives, domestic servants, wet nurses, widows, the poor, workers, miners, weavers, tailors, hosiery workers, lace makers, farmhands, millers, grocers, boatmen, rope makers, carpenters, turners, goldsmiths; of the mines; for a happy marriage, for the blessing of children and a happy birth, for wealth and the recovery of lost property and rain; against gout, fever, headaches, chest and stomach pains, thunderstorms
SYMBOLISM:
San Anne is usually depicted in a group with Joachim and little Mary. Her symbol is a book, which stands for her wisdom and her life according to the Christian model.
