BIOGRAPHY
Saint Ferdinand III, also known as San Fernando, was the King of Castile and León. Born in 1199, he ruled from 1217 until his death in 1252. He is known for his successful reconquest of large parts of Spain from the Moors, including Córdoba and Seville. Ferdinand was a deeply religious ruler who promoted the construction of churches and cathedrals, including the famous Cathedral of Seville. He encouraged Christian culture and was regarded as a wise and just king. His piety and dedication to the Church led to his canonization by Pope Clement X in 1671.
