BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Ingrid came from Skänninge (Sweden) and grew up in noble circumstances. After the death of her husband, she decided to leave her worldly life behind and became Sweden's first Dominican nun. According to reports, she went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, during which she was granted a vision of Christ. This vision encouraged her to establish a new religious order in Sweden and to found the first Dominican monastery in Sweden. Despite opposition from the local clergy and natural disasters that struck the monastery, she continued her mission and focused on the religious education of her community.
