BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Theodore Tiro was a Roman soldier from Amasea (modern-day Turkey) who openly declared his Christian faith. He refused to make sacrifices to pagan gods, was arrested, and sentenced to death. To demonstrate his faith, he set fire to a pagan temple, which led to brutal torture before his execution by burning in 306 AD. St. Theodore became one of the great warrior saints, particularly venerated in the Byzantine Empire and Eastern Churches.
