BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Stilla, born in Bavaria (Germany), was particularly popular for her determination to devote herself to the monastic life. Despite a marriage arranged by her family, she did not allow herself to be dissuaded from her convictions. She also founded the Marienburg convent in Abenberg, which emphasizes her piety and support for the needy. An often quoted fact of her life is the tradition that she received a vision to build the monastery church. This was seen as divine confirmation of her plans.
