BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Cecilia developed a strong attachment to Jesus as a child. A key event was her marriage to Valerianus. Contrary to pagan customs, she swore to preserve her virginity and revealed this vow to him. He also converted to Christianity and from then on they both dedicated themselves to the faith and to helping the poor and needy. During the persecution of Christians under Marcus Aurelius, Cecilia was arrested and tortured. Her refusal to renounce her faith culminated in her beheading. According to legend, she was still singing three days after her execution.
